So I attempted to create a google shopping account for my site and the request was denied due to insecure checkout. Upon checking, I noticed that if a product is added to cart and the user checkouts from the pop up window it does not redirect to a HTTPS secure site. If the user selects the cart or clicks checkout from the cart link or checkout link in the top right corner of the site all is well and it redirects to HTTPS.

Is this a bug in Arastta where checkout is not secure if accessed from the pop up window?

As a temporary fix I have enabled HTTPS on "CATALOG" instead of just "ACCOUNT" and "CHECKOUT"

I've enabled HTTPS on CATALOG and so google is no longer banning me because of HTTPS. They have however still placed a suspension for the following reasons:

CHECKOUT INCOMPLETE (EDITORIAL AND PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS)

    Usefulness
Google Shopping doesn’t allow the promotion of content that is unnecessarily difficult or frustrating to navigate.

Running the whole site in on https is perfectly fine, and actually also recommended.

That's good to know. I believe I had an extension that interfered with that at one time. Doesn't seem to be an issue now. Google has lifted the suspension.

I still think it's important that when a customer moves from the popup cart to the checkout stage when using SSL on only account and checkout that SSL actually engages. It is not the case right now so it is definitely a must to run the entire store on HTTPS, front and and back.
