I followed the instructions provided with the documentation for creating a custom theme folder (see 'override system' page in documentation). When I go to the customizer it only allows me to make basic changes. The button that allows one to make advanced changes is not showing. Is this expected behavior ?

Is there a particular file that I should add to my custom theme to allow advanced changes with the customizer ?
