According to the roadmap, Arastta 1.7 should have been released in August 2017, and 2.0 in May 2018.

Still 1.7 isn't released, and thus the roadmap is outdated (and should be updated). And then, since Arastta team isn't doing anything to add any new features or fix bugs, Arastta starts looking like abandonware, and just a dead horse to feed ...

There is no new features or anything else added into the 1.7-dev repo at GitHub, that could indicate a 1.7 release being close, as Arastta is said to use SemVer, which states the following:
Given a version number MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH, increment the:

MAJOR version when you make incompatible API changes,
MINOR version when you add functionality in a backwards-compatible manner, and
PATCH version when you make backwards-compatible bug fixes.

There is mainly only a few bug fixes and language improvements in the repo as we speak, some important bug fixes for newer PHP versions. And thus according to SemVer releasing a 1.6.x would be correct and wise, and hopefully the team is able to do so in near future.

Denis on behalf of the core team has said they need contributors to push the project forward, but how that should happen when they still controls everything, and don't let others handle all they are unable to, I would encourage them to come up with a plan as soon as possibly.

Thus I encourage the core team to post in the blog about what they need, and how they plan to arrange it.

Also there is quite a few unhandled/ignored issues on the sites, and especially the marketplace. Like the SSL certificate expiring every three months, and nobody renewing it for days or weeks each time. And then there are contact forms not working, because of missing captcha etc., and nobody fixing even if reported several times.

The marketplace also have a built in "anonym" payment form, and the site is running a self signed SSL certificate, and most don't trust this kind of setup for entering their credit card info. There isn't even any info about the card processing anywhere on the site. This together with bugs and errors on the sites makes it wasted to create extensions, as nobody can or will buy from the marketplace. I've got several reports about it.

Thus I also would encourage the core team to fix and improve the sites, or to ask for help if they ain't able to do it themself.

PS! cPanel has added AutoSSL, so there is no reason that the SSL certificates should expire every three months or so, as it should be easy to get it automated.

Finding the marketplace isn't working either. Can't download purchased extensions. Disappointing.

Yes Daniel, it's disappointing. And even worse, it's devastating for both the project and developers.

Btw! Also quite a big issue that users are required to log in to download language packs, but then the log in form is also broken because of missing captcha (most likely). Anyhow there is no reason to require users to log in to download languages, so they can fully test the system. Also reported by PM etc. btw., but never taken care of, simply ignored.
